The Identex Information Quality Management (IQM) Business Framework and Methodology
To help organisations deal more effectively with data and information quality issues, Identex has developed a practical and systematic approach called Information Quality Management (IQM). By implementing this programme many organisations have been able to identify and deal with data quality problems which were badly undermining the effectiveness of their business. The IQM programme is based upon research and consulting work carried out over many years in the US and Europe. It is an approach to data quality, especially suited to the technology environment of today’s business. When implemented it will enable an organisation to: - Identify the core data needed to support all the business
- Understand and quantify the business impact of poor data quality
- Produce a solid working plan for achieving data quality
- Make business and technology changes which help ensure that poor data quality is avoided in the future
- Create a platform for effective customer information management .
IQM is based upon the premise that information is a strategic asset which needs to be developed, managed and protected, and that the data needed to provide it must have three key attributes - integrity, completeness and relevance. As part of our Information Quality Management Business Framework Identex has developed a methodology or process that includes the well‑defined stages of the traditional approach, (such as data cleansing, formatting, standardisation and correction, and matching/consolidation activities), but these activities are included within a wider Methodology which integrates data quality more closely with the business .
